Pune, 28 February 2025: The prime accused in the Swargate Shivshahi bus rape case, Dattatraya Gade, faced the Pune District Court in Shivajinagar on Wednesday amid tight security. Gade, who allegedly assaulted a 26-year-old woman on 25 February, was apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday after a widespread search effort by law enforcement.

Following 15 hours of questioning, Pune Police brought Gade before Judicial Magistrate First Class T.S. Gaygole, where the prosecution requested a 14-day police custody remand due to the severity of the crime and the suspect’s history of criminal behavior. The prosecutor highlighted Gade’s past offenses involving female victims and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine if he had targeted other women in the past or had any accomplices.

The court, after considering the arguments, granted the police custody remand until 12 March to allow for further investigation into the case. This development comes as a significant step in seeking justice for the victim and ensuring accountability for the accused in this disturbing incident.
