Preparations are in full swing for the 339th Palkhi ceremony of Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj, set to kick off in just four days. A new addition to this year’s event is a stunning velvet umbrella, specially made by Rajesh Bhujbal and his friends from Chennai, to provide shade for the palanquin. The umbrella is intricately designed with hand-painted images of sacred symbols and decorative details, and was recently handed over to the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan at Pune’s Vitthal temple in Bhavani Peth.

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure that Warkaris have access to clean drinking water, healthcare services, and protection from the rain during the Ashadhi event. The Palkhi, led by Jagadguru Sant Shri Tukaram Maharaj, will kick off from Dehu on June 28. Vishal Maharaj More, the head of the Palkhi ceremony, has confirmed that the silver chariot, Abdagiri, has been polished to perfection and 363 dindis have been registered for participation.

The Sansthan has collaborated with various departments, including water, health, electricity, and roads, to provide necessary facilities for devotees. Letters have been sent to all Dindi heads, and materials for food donations along the Palkhi route have been secured. Musical instruments and pooja materials have also been acquired.

Efforts have been made to ensure cleanliness and security during the event. Employees have been assigned to manage cleanliness in Deulwada, security guards have been deployed, and control rooms have been set up in various districts. In addition, provisions have been made for a continuous power supply, water tanker services, and CCTV surveillance.

The highlight of the preparations is the special velvet umbrella from Chennai, which showcases exquisite design and craftsmanship. This umbrella, supported by natural bamboo twigs and a solid iron pipe, symbolizes the dedication and devotion towards the event.

Dr. Kishore Yadav, Chief Medical Officer of the Primary Health Centre in Dehugaon, has confirmed that adequate medical provisions are in place for the event. With a sufficient stock of medicines, treatment centers, ambulances, and first aid kits, medical emergencies can be promptly addressed.
