Velhe was rocked by a shocking incident on 3rd March 2025 when an angry mob vandalized a worship place in Sakhar, Rajgad taluka. The incident was sparked by a viral social media post supporting Aurangzeb, which caused outrage among the locals.
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Deshmukh, wasted no time in visiting the area to assess the situation. He promised strict action against those responsible for the vandalism. Sources within the police department revealed that the individual behind the controversial post is a minor who hails from Sakhar but has been residing in Pune for the past couple of years. His father informed the authorities that he suffers from mental illness.
As word of the social media post spread, a large number of youths from nearby areas descended upon Sakhar. Tensions escalated after a provocative speech, leading to some individuals vandalizing the place of worship. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, prompting the Velhe police to launch an investigation.
Despite the chaos, authorities were able to pacify the crowd and restore peace in the village. The police have assured the public that appropriate legal action will be taken against those involved in the vandalism. As of now, the situation in Velhe remains under control.
