It’s getting hotter in Pune, and with the rising temperatures, the demand for sugar and jaggery is going through the roof. Cold beverages are flying off the shelves, and as a result, sugar and jaggery prices have shot up by ₹50 to ₹100 per quintal in just a week. Can’t catch a break, can we?

But it’s not all bad news on the food front. Green pea prices are dropping faster than you can say “pea soup.” Thanks to an influx of supply from states like Uttar Pradesh, wholesale markets are reporting a steady decline in prices, with a drop of ₹1,500–₹2,000 per quintal last week. Looks like it’s a good time to stock up on your greens.

On the other hand, edible oil prices are taking a hit due to low demand. Soybean oil is leading the charge with a price drop of ₹15 to ₹20 per 15 kg container. But fear not, coconut oil lovers, your favorite oil is holding steady along with groundnut oil and vegetable ghee.

The good news continues with stable prices for wheat and Gavran Jowar. And rice prices are holding steady as well. But if you’re a fan of Kabuli chana, you’re in luck – prices have dropped by ₹1,000 per quintal. Time to whip up some chana masala!

As for pulses, tur dal, matki, masoor, and urad dal prices are staying put, thanks to low imports and exports. However, gram dal prices have taken a hit due to weak demand, dropping by ₹100 per quintal. And if you’re in the market for gram flour, you’re in for a treat – prices have dropped by ₹50 per 50 kg bag.

So there you have it, folks. The latest in Pune’s food market – sugar and jaggery prices are up, green pea prices are down, and edible oil prices are holding steady. Time to stock up on your favorites before the prices swing the other way!
