Hey there, folks in Pune! Here’s a little update for you – the city has reported its first two cases of Zika virus. Yep, you heard that right. A 46-year-old doctor and his 15-year-old daughter have both tested positive for the virus.

Now, don’t go into panic mode just yet. The good news is that both patients are doing okay. The doctor had a fever and some rashes, so he’s currently chilling in the hospital. His daughter, on the other hand, is at home and getting treatment at the OPD.

In case you’re wondering how this virus spreads, well, it’s through the bite of a mosquito called Aedes aegypti. This little bugger also carries dengue and chikungunya viruses, so it’s a real party animal.

The Health Department is on top of things though. They’ve already visited the affected area and are keeping an eye out for any other potential cases. Civic workers have even started fumigating the area to keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay.

Dr Rajesh Dighe from the PMC is urging everyone to stay calm but vigilant. If you start feeling feverish or notice any other symptoms, make sure to head over to the nearest PMC hospital. And for goodness’ sake, don’t let those mosquitoes breed in your backyard!

So, stay safe, Pune peeps. Let’s all do our part to keep this virus in check.
