Hey Pune peeps, big news coming your way! The PMC Commissioner, Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, just dropped a hefty Rs 12,618.09 crore budget bomb for the upcoming fiscal year. That’s a pretty significant jump from last year’s Rs 11,601 crore, but don’t worry, no new taxes are coming your way.
So, what’s in this budget that’s got everyone talking? Well, for starters, there’s a whopping Rs 7,093 crore allocated for revenue expenditure and Rs 5,524 crore for capital works. Looks like the focus is on keeping the city clean, healthy, and improving infrastructure. Oh, and there’s a new complaint redressal committee in town at the ward deputy commissioner level to make sure your voice is heard.
But wait, there’s more! To tackle those pesky epidemics, a Metropolitan Surveillance Unit is being set up. And let’s not forget about the newly incorporated villages, with Rs 623 crore set aside just for them. Plus, over Rs 200 crore is being pumped into land acquisition projects.
Dr. Bhosale made it clear that this budget is all about putting the citizens first. From easing traffic congestion to making sure everyone has access to affordable housing, and even sprucing up the crematoriums, they’ve got it all covered. And hey, they’re even planning on raking in more revenue by using municipal properties more efficiently.
This budget presentation is the third one under the administrator governance in PMC, and Dr. Bhosale seems pretty confident that they’re on the right track. With 55% of last year’s budget already collected, they’re aiming for a 70% utilization rate by the end of March.
The big reveal was attended by some heavy hitters in the municipal world, like Additional Commissioners Prithviraj BP and Mahesh Patil, along with heads of various departments. Looks like Pune is in for some exciting changes ahead!
