The streets of Swargate in Pune were filled with tension today as Shiv Sena members took to the streets in protest against Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi. The reason? Azmi’s recent comments praising Mughal emperor Aurangzeb have not gone down well with the people of Maharashtra, especially in the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The protesters were not holding back, as they burned effigies of Azmi and demanded that he be charged with sedition for his controversial remarks. The Shiv Sena party workers were vocal in their opposition to Azmi’s statements, chanting slogans and making their discontent known at Swargate Chowk.
One of the key figures leading the protest, Shiv Sena’s Pune city president Nana Bhangire, did not mince words when he stated, “Abu Azmi’s statements are unacceptable. We demand that he be booked for sedition and suspended from the Legislative Assembly. We will also submit a representation to the Pune City Police Commissioner to register a case against him in Pune.”
The tension in Swargate shows no signs of easing, as the Shiv Sena members are determined to hold Azmi accountable for his words. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
