Pune, a city known for its rich culture and vibrant atmosphere, has been grappling with a major issue for years – traffic congestion. But fear not, Punekars, because the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has come up with a game-changing plan to tackle this problem head-on.
In a recent announcement, the PMC revealed its ambitious plan to develop 33 missing link roads across the city. These roads, which have long been neglected, are crucial for ensuring smooth travel for commuters. Currently, these incomplete stretches force residents to take long detours, adding to the already chaotic traffic situation in the city.
Last month, fed-up citizens took matters into their own hands and formed a human chain to demand action on these stalled projects. Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil stepped in to address the issue. During a meeting with PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Patil emphasized the importance of resolving the problem and offered state government support for funding the projects.
In a bold move, Commissioner Bhosale announced in the budget presentation that developing missing link roads would be a top priority for the PMC. With work already underway on 30 of the identified links and land acquisition in progress for the remaining three, the city is on track to see major improvements in traffic flow.
The PMC has promised to expedite the land acquisition process through negotiations and complete the projects in phases. Once these missing links are up and running, Punekars can expect a significant reduction in travel time and a smoother commute across key areas of the city.
So, buckle up, Pune! Better days are on the horizon as the PMC works tirelessly to make our city a more accessible and commuter-friendly place to be.
