- PMRDA has achieved a major milestone by acquiring 99.94% of the land required for the Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 project in Pune.
- The recent approval from Raj Bhavan for 263.78 square meters of land has pushed the project to secure 100% of the necessary land.
- The Metro Line 3 project, operating on a PPP model, got the green light from the government in February 2018 and has a concession agreement with Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd.
- Dr. Dnyaneshwar Bhale, the PR officer of PMRDA, mentioned that 83% of the project work has already been completed.
- The recent land acquisition includes a crucial portion from the Raj Bhavan premises, near Savitribai Phule Pune University, necessary for constructing a staircase for the metro station.
- The proposal for transferring the Raj Bhavan land was submitted by PMRDA in November 2022 and has now been approved, providing full access for construction and development.
- With the completion of land acquisition, the project’s progress is expected to speed up, increasing the likelihood of finishing the Maan-Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 on time.
