Pune, 6th March 2025: Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratapsingh has taken a bold step by ordering a special cleanliness drive to be conducted this Saturday, March 8, across all offices under the state education department’s jurisdiction. The Chief Minister’s directives have set a 100-day, seven-point action plan for regional offices, requiring government and semi-government offices to take effective action. One of the key points in this plan is the special cleanliness drive scheduled for March 8 to ensure a clean and organized work environment.

The Deputy Director of Education has been tasked with reviewing the cleanliness efforts and submitting a report. Furthermore, the Education Commissioner has issued a circular directing the Directors of Primary Education and Secondary & Higher Secondary Education to implement the initiative in their departments.

In a statement, Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratapsingh explained the reasoning behind conducting the cleanliness drive on a Saturday, stating that weekdays see a high footfall of citizens in the offices, making it challenging to carry out such activities. Weekends, on the other hand, provide an opportunity to conduct the drive smoothly. The Commissioner’s office will also participate in the cleanliness drive along with other offices.

However, the decision has not been well-received by some officers and employees who are unhappy about the drive taking place on a designated holiday. It remains to be seen how this initiative will be implemented and what impact it will have on the overall cleanliness of the education department’s offices.
