Hey there! So, it looks like companies in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area are a bit hesitant to jump on the electric vehicle (EV) bandwagon. Why, you ask? Well, apparently they’re worried about whether the project is actually going to be profitable since the EV market is still pretty new and growing.
One of the main concerns seems to be the long charging times for these EVs. I mean, who wants to wait around for two hours just to get a full charge, right? This has some people wondering if consumers will actually be willing to hang out at public charging stations for that long.
In the past, a few companies tried to get in on the action but couldn’t meet the requirements set by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). So, the PCMC decided to make things a bit easier and more straightforward. But even with these changes, the response from companies hasn’t been all that great.
“We’ve made it easier for companies to participate,” said a PCMC official.
Despite the challenges, PCMC is determined to push forward with promoting EV infrastructure in the city. According to data, there are over 23 lakh registered vehicles in Pimpri-Chinchwad, with only around 50,000 being electric. Looks like there’s still some work to be done to get more EVs on the road!
