Pune, 11th March 2025: Big news in the city of Pune as the Maharashtra State Government has finally filled a long-vacant post at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). IAS officer M.J. Pradeep Chandran has been appointed as the new Additional Commissioner, taking charge of overseeing 18 key departments within the PMC. This post had been empty for the past 11 months, causing some concern among residents.

Chandran comes with a wealth of experience, having served in various state government departments before this new role. He was previously the Additional Development Commissioner (Industry) at the Directorate of Industries in Mumbai and has also been the Collector of Bhandara District. This is his first posting in western Maharashtra, and he is eager to bring his expertise to the PMC.

In his new role, Chandran will be responsible for departments such as Accounts and Finance, Water Supply Projects, Education, and General Administration. He has already hit the ground running, diving into the operations of the PMC to ensure efficient governance under his leadership.

Last year, several high-ranking officials in Maharashtra were transferred, including the PMC Commissioner and two Additional Commissioners. While Dr. Rajendra Bhosale took over as the new Municipal Commissioner and Prithviraj B.P. was appointed as an Additional Commissioner, the other two Additional Commissioner positions remained vacant until now.

With Chandran now on board as the Additional Commissioner (General), the PMC is hopeful for a new era of effective leadership and streamlined operations. Residents can expect positive changes and improvements in various departments under his watchful eye. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
