Hey there, folks! Big news coming out of Pune today – the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) have joined forces to crack down on illegal encroachments along the Chandni Chowk to Paud Highway. The anti-encroachment drive has been in full swing since last week, with a particular focus on the Paud-Kolwan road.

Using JCB machines, authorities have been busy tearing down unauthorized shops and tin sheds that were encroaching within eight meters of the road. Not stopping there, they also demolished illegal establishments in the central Paud area and even in front of the Paud ST bus stand. Some shopkeepers saw the writing on the wall and voluntarily cleared out before the wrecking ball came swinging.

The operation was a well-coordinated effort, with heavy police presence led by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Girigosavi and his team. Officials from PMRDA, MSRDC, and the Public Works Department (PWD) were on hand to ensure everything went smoothly. Two JCB machines and a fire brigade unit were also brought in for extra assistance.

Unfortunately, the demolition has left many shopkeepers in a tough spot, as they now face financial losses and uncertainty about their future. Senior Inspector Girigosavi has issued a strict warning against any attempts to rebuild in the cleared areas, threatening legal action against violators.

It’s a tough situation for all involved, but it looks like the authorities are serious about cleaning up the area. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
