The Pune City Police’s Traffic Branch is cracking down on illegally modified motorcycle silencers in a bid to reduce noise pollution in the city. Under the “Bullet Silencer Special Campaign,” 1,768 modified silencers were seized and crushed in a large-scale operation.
This action comes in response to the growing trend of riders modifying their silencers to create louder exhaust sounds, causing disturbances in public areas and residential neighborhoods. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar directed the traffic branch to take strict action against these violators following numerous complaints from residents.
Authorities are now targeting garages and shops that sell or install these illegal modifications, aiming to dismantle the supply chain and prevent further violations. The campaign is ongoing, with the police urging residents to report any instances of illegally modified silencers to help maintain peace and reduce noise pollution in Pune.
