Pune was buzzing with activity on the 14th of March as residents geared up for the Dhulwad (Holi) celebrations. While puranpoli remained a popular choice for the festival, many people in the city were seen flocking to markets to purchase mutton, fish, and chicken to prepare delicious non-vegetarian dishes for the day after Holi, known as Dhulwad.

According to Prabhakar Kamble, President of the Pune City Mutton Shopkeepers’ Association, there was a high demand for mutton from both restaurants and households. Similarly, Rupesh Pardeshi, Director of the Pune-Pimpri Chinchwad Boiler Association, noted an increase in chicken sales as well.
