Hey there, Pune folks! It looks like we’ve got a scorching hot day on our hands. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that temperatures in Lohegaon soared to a blistering 40.6°C, a whopping 5.4°C above normal for this time of year.

But hold on, it gets even hotter. Shirur tehsil in Pune district saw the mercury rise to a sweltering 40.9°C, while Talegaon Dhamdhere wasn’t far behind at 40.3°C. Looks like the rural areas are feeling the heat too!

While the IMD hasn’t officially declared a heatwave, experts are saying that the current temperature spike is pretty similar to one. Apparently, a high-pressure system over Gujarat is causing this heatwave-like situation across Maharashtra, and it’s not going away anytime soon.

With these extreme temperatures, health experts are advising everyone to stay hydrated and avoid going outside during the hottest parts of the day. It’s no joke – exposure to such high temperatures can be dangerous, so better to be safe than sorry, right?

And it’s not just Pune feeling the heat. Marathwada and Vidarbha are also experiencing above-normal temperatures. In fact, seven locations in Vidarbha hit above 40°C on Friday, with Chandrapur topping the charts at a scorching 41.4°C.

So, folks, stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of yourselves in this heat. Let’s all be prepared and stay safe to avoid any heat-related illnesses. Stay cool, Pune!
