Hey folks, exciting news coming in from Viman Nagar! If you’re tired of sitting in traffic along the Pune-Nagar Road, you’re in for a treat. Thanks to some strategic traffic interventions, congestion has decreased, and vehicle speeds have increased by a whopping 16 to 19 percent compared to last year.

This ‘surgical strike’ on traffic bottlenecks, led by Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, has brought much-needed relief to commuters traveling from Kharadi to Wagholi. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende shared that they’ve made some crucial changes like modifying signal phases, adjusting U-turns, and improving intersections. And guess what? It’s already making a difference with smoother traffic flow and faster speeds.

To tackle congestion in areas like Yerawada, Airport, Kharadi, and Wagholi, the Traffic Divisions have implemented some key measures. For example, they’ve closed certain right turns, introduced U-turns, and made some roads signal-free to improve overall traffic flow.

And that’s not all, folks! They’re also using technology like the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) to monitor traffic movement and make data-driven decisions. This has resulted in a significant increase in vehicle speed on Pune-Nagar Road compared to last year.

But wait, there’s more! A strict traffic enforcement drive has been in effect since January, with police cracking down on violations like wrong-side driving, drunk driving, and signal jumping. They’ve even registered over 34,000 cases and collected fines worth ₹2.48 crore.

In Wagholi, a suburb plagued by traffic chaos, authorities are taking bold steps to ease congestion. They’re clearing encroachments, repairing roads, and even shifting traffic signals to streamline vehicle movement. And hey, they’ve detained luxury buses and fined over 1,600 vehicles to keep things in check.

A dedicated team of police personnel is also cracking down on reckless driving in Wagholi, with nearly 5,000 cases registered and ₹25 lakh in fines collected. The future looks promising, with plans to make these traffic management strategies permanent and work closely with the Pune Municipal Corporation to ensure long-term improvements.

So, buckle up, folks! The roads in Pune are about to get safer and more efficient, thanks to these innovative traffic solutions.
