- Pune, a city known for its rich history and culture, has recently been in the news for a shocking case of judicial fraud that has raised serious concerns about the integrity of legal proceedings.
- The case revolves around CTR Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd., a 50-year-old company that had submitted a tender for an airport project in 2022. However, it was soon discovered that another firm, Easun-MR Pvt. Ltd., based in Chennai, had copied CTR’s design and diagrams with the help of certain employees.
- Following a complaint filed by CTR at the Pune Airport Police Station, senior officials of Easun-MR, including Ravi Kumar Ramaswamy and Haribhau Chemte, were arrested.
- The accused individuals then applied for bail at the Pune Civil Court and also approached the Bombay High Court for interim bail. However, they presented a fake court order with a forged judge’s signature, falsely stating that all charges against them had been dropped.
- The fraudulent document misled the high court, leading to bail being granted. However, CTR’s legal team later obtained a certified copy of the actual ruling, which confirmed that the order submitted by the accused was indeed fraudulent.
- Judge Wahida Makandar of the Pune court confirmed that her signature on the fake order was forged, prompting the Bombay High Court to cancel the bail order and direct court officials to file a complaint with the police.
- Legal experts have emphasized the need for strict action against such fraud, with many arguing that the concerned judges should have intervened promptly and reported the deception to the police.
- With fresh hearings scheduled, key questions remain unanswered, such as who forged the judge’s signature and who orchestrated the scam to deceive the court.
- CTR’s lawyer, Abid Mulani, has confirmed that the accused’s bail has been revoked and that legal proceedings will continue, with CTR demanding a CBI investigation into the matter.
- The case has highlighted the importance of upholding the integrity of the judicial system and ensuring that such fraudulent activities are met with severe consequences.
