Hey there, mango lovers! Big news coming in from the land of Devgad Alphonso mangoes! The Devgad Taluka Mango Growers Cooperative Society Limited is cracking down on fake mangoes with a new Tamper Proof UID Seal system.
If you’re a fan of Devgad Alphonso (Hapus) mangoes, you’ll now have to look out for the TP Seal stickers on every mango you buy. These stickers are a surefire way to guarantee that you’re getting the real deal and not some counterfeit impostor.
According to Adv. Omkar M Sapre, the Society is taking this step to protect the reputation and market share of genuine Devgad Alphonso mangoes. Over 80% of mangoes being sold as Devgad Hapus are actually from other regions, which is a big no-no.
So, how does this new system work? Each GI-registered farmer from Devgad has been given TP Seal UIDs to apply to their mangoes. Consumers can easily verify the authenticity of their mangoes by sending a photo of the sticker via WhatsApp.
And here’s a heads up for all you traders and retailers out there: selling fake Devgad Alphonso mangoes is a serious offense. The GI Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have strict penalties in place for those caught selling counterfeit mangoes.
So, next time you’re craving some delicious Devgad Alphonso mangoes, make sure to check for the TP Seal sticker to enjoy the real taste of Devgad!
