Well, folks, it looks like Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Liquor bottles have been found in the girls’ hostel, adding to a string of incidents involving drugs and tobacco products on campus. It seems like there’s a serious lack of supervision going on over at SPPU.
According to Shiva Barole from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student had been trying to blow the whistle on these activities for a while now, but no one was listening. After taking the matter to the higher-ups, including the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, it’s clear that something fishy is going on. Despite having biometric security systems in place, it seems like contraband is still finding its way into the hostel, leading to suspicions of staff involvement.
And if things weren’t bad enough, it’s been alleged that a male professor even made his way into the girls’ hostel without permission. Safety and security are definitely major concerns here. The ABVP is demanding an inquiry committee to get to the bottom of these incidents and is ready to protest if action isn’t taken swiftly.
The SPPU administration is under fire for not dealing with these issues effectively, which is painting a rather grim picture of the institution. Let’s hope they can clean up their act before things get even messier. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
