During a recent state assembly session, Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole raised the issue of confusion regarding the management of these surveillance systems. He suggested that the responsibility for maintenance should lie with the police department and proposed the installation of an additional 10,000 cameras to further improve monitoring capabilities.
In response to these suggestions, Minister of State for Home Affairs Yogesh Kadam has assured that the government is working on establishing standard operating procedures for CCTV installation and maintenance. He also mentioned plans to equip Pune with AI-enabled cameras to boost surveillance efforts, especially during nighttime.
