Hey Pune peeps, get ready for some exciting news about the upcoming metro stations in our city! As part of the second phase of the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Metro project, the authorities are pulling out all the stops to ensure that the new metro corridors are equipped with top-notch stations.
To make sure that these stations are modern and efficient, private companies will be appointed as ‘Design Advisory Committees’ for the Kharadi to Khadakwasla and Nal Stop to Manik Baug metro lines. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) has already kicked off the tendering process for this purpose.
In addition to the ongoing first phase of Pune’s metro expansion, the second phase will introduce five new metro routes. The Kharadi-Swargate-Hadapsar-Khadakwasla route will cover a whopping 25.51 km with 22 stations, while the Nal Stop to Warje-Manik Baug corridor will span 6.12 km with six stations.
To ensure that the station designs are in sync with the local geography and infrastructure, MahaMetro has invited tenders to appoint private design advisory committees for these projects. MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to ensure seamless planning of metro stations.
The proposed metro stations for Phase 2 include a variety of stops along the Khadakwasla-Kharadi and Nal Stop-Warje-Manik Baug routes. These stations will boast modern infrastructure and commuter-friendly facilities such as spacious premises, passenger-friendly amenities, air conditioning systems, and more.
With these design enhancements, MahaMetro aims to set new standards in urban transportation, providing Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad with world-class metro stations. Get ready to travel in style and comfort, Pune!
