Hey there, Pune peeps! Looks like there’s some drama unfolding at the Liquid Leisure Lounge (L3) bar on FC Road. The Shivajinagar police have slapped some serious charges on the co-owner, Santosh Kamthe, and the permit room license-holder, Ravi Maheshwari, for making some sneaky unauthorized alterations to the establishment.

Apparently, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) busted a hidden staircase that was connecting the bar’s mezzanine floor to the second floor. This staircase was built without proper authorization and didn’t match up with the submitted floor plan. Naughty, naughty!

But wait, there’s more. A raid on the bar revealed some shady activities going on past the 1:30 a.m. closure deadline. Allegations of drug use at an illegal after-party that went on until 4:30 a.m. have surfaced. A video clip showing two individuals indulging in some questionable substances in the bar’s washroom even made its way onto social media, leading to the raid.

Now, the police have arrested Kamthe, Maheshwari, and six others in connection with the case. They’re all currently cooling their heels in police custody until June 29. And it doesn’t stop there – a Mumbai architect and a techie from Mundhwa, who were also caught up in the video clip, have been nabbed too.

The public is up in arms over the incident, slamming the government for failing to curb the rising drug menace in Pune. The FIR mentions that the PMC had warned Kamthe and Maheshwari about their illegal alterations but the duo didn’t respond satisfactorily. Kamthe’s lawyer claims they had provided all necessary documents to the authorities, but it seems like there’s been a bit of miscommunication.

Looks like things are heating up in Pune – stay tuned for more updates on this developing story!
