Hey Pune peeps, we’ve got some concerning news on the health front. Two new cases of Zika virus have been reported in the city, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 11. What’s even more worrying is that five of these patients are pregnant, which has the health department on high alert.

The Zika virus seems to be spreading across different parts of Pune, with initial cases detected in Erandwane and now popping up in Kodre Wasti, Dahanukar Colony, Pashan, Ambegaon Budruk, Karvenagar, and Kharadi. It’s like the virus is on a city-wide tour!

In Karvenagar, a 42-year-old woman who works at a private hospital tested positive for Zika after experiencing a fever for a couple of weeks. Over in Kharadi, a 22-year-old man with a fever and rash also tested positive. The good news is that both patients are currently in stable condition.

Dr. Rajesh Dighe, Assistant Health Officer at the Municipal Corporation, has assured that preventive measures are being taken in the areas where the patients were found. They’ve even started a screening campaign for pregnant women in these areas to keep a close eye on the situation.

Let’s all stay vigilant, Pune, and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Zika. Stay safe, folks!
