Hey there, Pune peeps! Big changes are happening in the legal scene in our city, especially at the Cantonment Court. The old British-era building on Mahatma Gandhi Road that housed the court is getting a much-needed makeover. The court has temporarily shifted to the Mahatma Phule Cultural Bhawan in Wanowrie to make way for renovations.

But that’s not all – the Cantonment Court is also expanding! Previously operating with three courtrooms, they have added an additional courtroom to handle the growing number of cases. And get this – within a month, they’ll have a total of five courtrooms at the Mahatma Phule Sanskrutik Bhavan. This means quicker resolutions for all those pending claims.

Adv. Santosh Khamkar, the President of the Pune Bar Association, is all for this expansion. He believes that more courtrooms will benefit everyone involved – from the parties to the lawyers to the judicial system. The Cantonment Court used to handle daily cases from five police stations, causing delays in the hearing process. But with the new courtrooms, each police station will have its own dedicated court, reducing the pressure on the system.

Speaking of pending cases, did you know that there are over 30,000 claims waiting to be heard in the Army Court? The Pune Bar Association has been pushing for more court chambers to speed up the process. The current facilities at Mahatma Phule Sanskrutik Bhavan are temporary, but the increase in courtrooms will definitely help clear the backlog.

So, if you’ve got a claim waiting to be heard at the Cantonment Court, hang in there – help is on the way! With the renovations and expansion in full swing, justice will be served faster than ever before. Stay tuned for more updates on this legal makeover in Pune!
