Hey there, folks! It’s Sumit Singh reporting to you live from Pune with some important news on the crackdown against drunk driving. The Pune police have really stepped up their game after a tragic accident in Kalyaninagar that resulted in the loss of a young computer engineer’s life.

In response to this incident, the authorities have been cracking down on intoxicated motorists with full force. Over the past month and a half, a whopping 1,684 drunk drivers have been caught and had their licenses suspended for three months. Talk about taking strict measures!

The police aren’t messing around, folks. Following the incident involving the son of a prominent builder, Vishal Agarwal, who was detained for his role in a fatal collision, they have been out on the Mumbai-Pune road in full force. A police constable even lost his life due to a drunk driver in a tragic incident on Sunday night.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar has made it clear that anyone caught driving under the influence will face serious consequences. With a three-month suspension of their license for first-time offenders and permanent revocation for repeat offenders, the message is loud and clear.

In just under two months, the police have taken action against over 150,000 unruly drivers, raking in fines totaling over ₹12 crore. These violations include everything from drunk driving to driving without a number plate or even triple seating on two-wheelers. Yikes!

This isn’t a new initiative, folks. The police have been on top of this issue all year, with over 1,600 drunk drivers facing consequences since January. And they’re not stopping anytime soon.

So, to all you drivers out there, be safe and follow the rules. The police are watching, and they’re not afraid to take action. Let’s all do our part to make Pune’s roads safer for everyone. Stay safe out there!
