Hey Pune peeps, big news coming your way! The Sadhu Vaswani railway overbridge in Queens Garden is getting a makeover courtesy of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The old 50-year-old bridge is being torn down to make way for a shiny new one that’s sure to ease traffic troubles in Koregaon Park.

Apparently, the old bridge was getting a bit sketchy for heavy vehicles, so the PMC decided it was time for a change after a technical audit showed it was a risk. There was some debate on whether to repair or demolish the bridge, but it looks like the decision has been made.

The Public Works Department built the original bridge 17 years ago and it was repaired, but heavy vehicles were still a no-go. Now, a new integrated traffic plan is in the works from Koregaon Park to Bund Garden Bridge, with the Sadhu Vaswani ROB being the first to go.

The demolition has already started after some successful traffic diversions were put in place. The new bridge is estimated to cost Rs 83 crore, but the Civic Budget has set aside funds for the project. Looks like Pune is in for a smooth ride in the near future!
