Hey there, Pune folks! Looks like the Zika virus is making its presence known in our city with the infection of two more pregnant women, bringing the total number of cases to 18. Yikes!

The two newly infected women, both from Kharadi, are pregnant and thankfully received good news from their anomaly scans. Even though they didn’t show any symptoms, the National Institute of Virology confirmed their Zika infection on Thursday.

Erandwane seems to be the hotspot for Zika cases in Pune, with six patients reported. Other areas like Pashan, Kharadi, Mundhwa, Dahanukar Colony, Right Bhusari Colony, Ambegaon Budruk, and Kalas have also reported cases.

The health department is on it though, implementing preventive measures like identifying and destroying mosquito breeding sites. They’ve even issued fines to homeowners for not maintaining their properties properly.

And it’s not just urban areas affected – a 65-year-old man in Saswad tested positive for Zika after experiencing symptoms and traveling to Miraj. Health authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation and urging everyone to stay vigilant.

Stay safe, Pune! Let’s all do our part to control the spread of Zika in our city.
