Hey there, Pune folks! Exciting news coming your way – a brand new pedestrian overbridge is set to be built at Chandni Chowk by the NHAI. Yup, you heard it right! The tender process for the project is complete, and the 100-meter iron pedestrian overbridge will stretch from the MSRTC new bus stand to Irani Cafe in Bavdhan.

The contract for this much-needed overbridge has been given to MD Infra, a Kolhapur-based company. Talks are in the final stages between NHAI and MD Infra, and construction is expected to kick off next month.

This overbridge couldn’t come soon enough, as media outlets have been shining a light on the dangers pedestrians face at Chandni Chowk. With headlines screaming about “Pedestrians’ Lives in Danger,” it’s clear that something needed to be done.

Currently, pedestrians have to trek three kilometers or shell out over Rs 100 for a rickshaw ride just to cross the highway. But with the new overbridge, crossing safely will only take five minutes, providing much-needed relief to weary travelers.

In response to these concerns, Union Minister of State Murdhir Mohol has reached out to Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, urging swift action on this overbridge project.

So, Pune peeps, get ready to say goodbye to those long treks and expensive rickshaw rides – a safer and more convenient crossing is on the horizon!
