Hey Pune peeps, big news coming your way! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has finally started cracking down on illegal encroachments on city roads, all thanks to a directive from Pune MP and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol.

Today was the first day of the crackdown, and boy, did they make some progress! Gopalkrishna Gokhale Road (FC Road), Hadapsar, Nagar Road, and Dhankawadi were the main targets.

On FC Road, vendors were taking up all the space, selling everything from clothes to food. The PMC swooped in and started clearing out these encroachments, with the help of Pune traffic police and Deccan Police station.

Meanwhile, over on the Pune-Solapur Highway, the Construction Department and Hadapsar Ward Office took action against illegal structures. They removed a whopping 26,000 square feet of encroachments, including sheds and concrete structures.

Traders along the highway had been expanding their businesses illegally, causing traffic jams and putting pedestrians at risk. Despite warnings from the authorities, they continued to ignore the rules.

But today, with the help of two JCBs, the authorities successfully cleared out the encroachments. In Dhankawadi, constructions, steps, and stalls were removed from front and side margins. And on Nagar Road, a hotel that had been encroaching on the front margin was demolished.

Looks like the PMC means business when it comes to clearing out the city roads. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing operation!
