Hey Pune peeps, hold onto your hats because we’ve got some juicy drama unfolding in our city! Two individuals, Balasaheb Tukaram Awtade and Kavita Popat Dhawale, are in hot water for allegedly pulling off a massive Rs 98-lakh fraud by tampering with a land sale deed.

The whole shebang went down between July 2015 and July 15, 2024, at Gat no. 102 in Kesnand. Shahnawaz Ali Mohammad Somji, a resident of Dhole Patil Road, wasn’t having any of it and promptly filed a complaint with the Lonikand Police Station.

Apparently, a land parcel originally belonging to the complainant was fraudulently registered in the names of Awtade and Dhawale. The shady duo took advantage of their power of attorney and cooked up a fake sale deed for a chunk of land, cheating the complainant, her brother-in-law, and another individual to the tune of nearly Rs 100 lakhs.

The police have slapped the culprits with charges under sections 406, 420, and 34 of the IPC, and are currently digging deeper into the case. Stay tuned for more updates on this wild tale of deceit and betrayal!
