The streets of Pune have been marred by a series of tragic accidents recently, with three lives lost in separate incidents.

In the first case, a 73-year-old woman named Shantabai Kerba Modak was struck by a speeding car while standing in front of her house on July 3. The driver of the car fled the scene, leaving Modak with severe injuries that ultimately proved fatal. A case has been registered against the driver at the Loni Kalbhor police station, with Police Sub-Inspector Tarte leading the investigation.

Another accident occurred on Pune-Solapur road when a pedestrian was hit by a speeding tempo. The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed, but the tempo driver has been booked in the case following a complaint lodged by Police Naik Mahesh Kare at Loni Kalbhor police station. Police Sub-Inspector Birajdar is now looking into the matter.

The third incident involved a pedestrian being struck by a car on the Mumbai-Bangalore bypass, sustaining serious head injuries. The pedestrian, who remains unidentified, is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. A complaint has been filed against the car driver, Preetvardhan Diwakar Sharma, with Police Naik Santosh Shende filing the complaint at Sinhagad Road Police Station. Police Constable Kumbhar is handling the investigation.

These tragic accidents serve as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving in Pune.
