Hey folks, it looks like Pune has been experiencing some pretty heavy rainfall lately. In fact, the water levels in the dams in the district have been rising rapidly over the past couple of days.

The Khadakwasla Dam has been releasing water, and the levels in the Panshet, Varasgaon, Temghar, and Khadakwasla dams have all gone up considerably. In fact, a video has surfaced showing water being discharged from the Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha river, and it looks like even a poor dog got caught up in the rush of water. Luckily, it seems like the dog made it to safety once the current slowed down downstream.

The Khadakwasla Dam, which supplies water to Pune, is currently filled up to 88.53 percent. The four dams in the Khadakwasla system have seen around 1.5 TMC water added in the past 24 hours, thanks to heavy rains in the area.

Over in Lonavala, there was a cloudburst-like situation on Wednesday, causing low-lying areas to flood. Roads looked more like rivers, and locals had a tough time navigating through the knee-deep water. The highest rainfall of the season, 275 mm, was recorded in the past 24 hours.

And in Pune, the rains have been relentless. Normal life has been disrupted, especially in the central parts of the city. In the past day, Shivajinagar saw 15.5 mm of rain, while Chinchwad got 39 mm.

Other areas in the district have also seen some significant rainfall, with Lavasa recording 134 mm, Nimgiri with 58 mm, and many other areas getting in on the action as well.

So, if you’re in Pune or the surrounding areas, make sure to stay safe and dry as the rain continues to pour down.
