Kothrud, 25th May 2024: A shocking incident took place in a housing colony near PMC’s water supply tank at Chandni Chowk on Thursday when a group of five men tried to rob a catering contractor’s house. Armed with guns and sharp weapons, the intruders threatened a house help in an attempt to access a safe.
Fortunately, the quick thinking of the house help prevented the robbery from being successful. Realizing the danger, the help locked the intruders inside the house and immediately informed the police. The Kothrud police acted swiftly and managed to apprehend the suspects, taking them into custody.
The arrested individuals, who were working for an ice-cream shop owner in Pirganut, confessed that they had planned the robbery to help their employer pay off debts. Senior Inspector Sandeep Deshmane revealed that the police found a billhook, hammer, and rod in the possession of the suspects. Efforts are currently being made to locate and arrest the other two suspects who managed to escape with a firearm.
Further investigation uncovered that the suspects had been brought in from Rajasthan by the shop owner, who had rented a room in Chande village near Sus for them to stay. The robbery had been planned meticulously over the course of a year, with the criminals choosing a time when they knew the victim would not be at home.
“The shop owner orchestrated the robbery knowing that the victim would be absent on Thursday. His accomplices entered the house with the intention of stealing valuables, but their plans were foiled,” explained the officer.
