Hey folks, looks like the heavy rains in Pune have really caused some chaos when it comes to water and power supply. Many housing societies on Sinhagad Road were hit hard, with flood water entering and disrupting power supply through 13 major cables. That’s a lot of transformers affected, leaving around 84,600 consumers without power in various areas.

MSEDCL employees have been working hard to restore power supply, but the continuous showers have made it quite a challenge. They can’t turn the power back on in areas where the electric equipment is underwater or switched off for safety reasons. So, they’re waiting for the flood waters to subside before getting things back up and running.

In areas like Ektanagari, Puja Park, and Gayatri Apartments, power supply was switched off to ensure safety. The same goes for places like Vadgaon Sheri, Ahmednagar Road, and Vishrantwadi. And it’s not just the housing societies that were affected – areas like Chavan Nagar, Beverly Hills, and even Gharkul in Nigdi had their power cut off too.

Over in Mulshi taluka, around 40 electricity poles collapsed, affecting electricity supply to 2,600 customers in 12 villages. Precautionary measures were taken in Bhukum, Bhugaon, and Maan, and power supply was suspended in villages in Kamshet and Lonavala as well.

The MSEDCL is now on high alert, with Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar keeping a close eye on the situation. He’s instructed all engineers and employees to be on their toes, especially in areas like Hingne and Vishrantwadi. And he’s asking for cooperation from customers during this challenging time.

But not everyone is happy with how things have been handled. Vivek Velankar, President of Sajag Nagrik Manch, Pune, has criticized the MSEDCL for the outages, pointing out the lack of maintenance and repairs before the monsoon. Looks like Puneites are not too pleased with the service they’re getting – and who can blame them?
