Hey Pune peeps, good news on the water front! So, remember how we were all worried about the dipping water levels in the dams in our district in June and the first three weeks of July? Well, fret not because the recent rains have come to our rescue!

As of Thursday morning, the Khadakwasla chain of dams that supplies water to Pune was at 69.52% capacity, with 20.27 TMC of water. And get this, in just 24 hours, an additional 3.71 TMC of water was added to these dams. That’s a total of 42.46% of their capacity filled up!

Not just that, the Tata Group dams in the district are looking pretty good too, with a storage of 27.93 TMC, which is 65.31% of their total capacity. And the Ujani Dam’s dead storage has been filled up after 5.67 TMC of water was added.

Overall, the total water storage in the 26 dams in the district (excluding Tata Group dams) is at 84.22 TMC, which is 6.55 TMC higher than last year. Major dams like Ujani, Pavana, Mulshi, and Bhatghar are also showing significant increases in their storage levels compared to last year.

So, looks like we can all breathe a little easier knowing that our water situation is looking up. Let’s hope the rains keep coming and fill up those dams even more! Stay hydrated, Pune!
