Hey Pune peeps, it’s been a rough few days for residents in Pune and the PCMC area. The heavy rainfall on the 24th and 25th of July brought chaos and flooding to the cities due to poor drainage systems and overflowing rivers. Low-lying areas were hit the hardest, with many residential societies dealing with waterlogged basements.

One society feeling the brunt of the flooding is Kalpataru Exquisite in Wakad. Residents are struggling with issues like no parking, electricity, and functioning lifts. To add to their woes, there’s an increase in pesky mosquitoes buzzing around.

With knee-deep water in the basements, residents are facing challenges with basic necessities like drinking water and functional toilets. The lack of operational lifts is making it tough for seniors and those with medical needs to access higher floors.

Dattatraya Deshmukh from the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation highlighted the drainage problems in the area, particularly for societies near the Mula River. While other societies had quick fixes, Kalpataru Exquisite is still battling the aftermath of the floods.

Chandrakant Indalkar, the Additional Commissioner of PCMC, assured residents that they are working on addressing the issue, especially given the society’s proximity to the river.

Residents like Abhishek Gupta from Sierra Tower are feeling the impact of the floods, with water scarcity and closed lifts causing distress. However, efforts to pump out the water have provided some relief to the 1,000+ residents.

Former corporator Rahul Kalate has stepped up to support the affected residents during this challenging time. Stay safe, Pune!
