1. Pune Traffic Police Crack Down on Drunk Driving: In response to a recent accident in Kalyaninagar, the Pune traffic police have launched sudden checkpoints across the city to catch drunk drivers. So far, 117 cases have been filed against offenders in areas like Mundhwa, Koregaon Park, Yerwada, and Vimannagar.

2. Proactive Measures: The traffic police, along with local police stations, have set up blockades after midnight to prevent accidents caused by drunk driving. Over 1,400 motorists were checked, resulting in 117 drivers being found under the influence of alcohol.

3. Highest Number of Operations: Yerwada and Sahakarnagar police station limits saw the most significant number of drunk driving cases. In addition to these cases, 262 motorists were also fined for various traffic violations, totaling Rs 2,84,500 in fines.

4. Leadership and Guidance: Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint Police Commissioner Praveen Pawar oversaw the operation, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, Rohidas Pawar. Teams from both the Traffic Branch and local police stations worked together to ensure the success of the initiative.

5. Continued Efforts: This recent crackdown follows a similar operation just three days prior, where 85 drunk drivers were caught. The Pune traffic police remain committed to road safety and aim to reduce accidents through strict enforcement of traffic laws.
