Hey there, folks! Today, we’ve got some hot-off-the-press news about the water crisis hitting Pune and other major cities. MP Dr. Medha Kulkarni recently brought up some serious concerns about groundwater conservation and the rejuvenation of the Mula-Mutha River during a Rajya Sabha session.

According to Dr. Kulkarni, the declining groundwater levels and the increasing number of dry borewells are causing a real headache for urban areas trying to meet their daily water needs. With insufficient rainwater harvesting and a growing population, residents are struggling to secure enough water.

But fear not, because Minister of Water Resources, C. R. Patil, has assured us that the central government is backing state efforts to manage water resources effectively. One such initiative is the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, which aims to improve water availability in agricultural fields.

And let’s not forget about the Mula-Mutha river rejuvenation project! Dr. Kulkarni revealed that this year’s budget includes a whopping ₹690 crore for the project. She’s also curious about how the previous ₹990 crore allocated for various works under this project was spent.

So, folks, it looks like the government is taking steps to tackle the water crisis head-on. Let’s hope these initiatives lead to a brighter, wetter future for all of us!
