Did you know that some vehicle owners in Pune have accumulated fines that exceed the value of their bikes? That’s right, the Pune traffic police recently uncovered shocking statistics about the widespread disregard for traffic rules in the city. One vehicle was penalized a whopping 154 times, while another had racked up 130 violations. In fact, a total of 21 vehicles have been fined over 100 times, and nearly 1,000 vehicles have faced more than 50 penalties each, resulting in fines totaling Rs 3.18 crore.

To tackle this issue, the Pune Police have taken strict actions, including impounding vehicles that repeatedly break traffic regulations. So far, 44 vehicles have been seized under this operation. Each traffic police department has been instructed to identify and crack down on repeat offenders.

In addition to impounding vehicles, the police are also cracking down on private transporters and drivers who have violated traffic rules more than 100 and 50 times, respectively. If they fail to pay their fines, their permits will be cancelled. For individual vehicle owners, non-payment of fines will lead to the cancellation of their vehicle licenses.

Furthermore, the police have announced plans to intensify actions against specific infractions, such as riding with triple seats, using phones while driving, and driving in the opposite direction. These measures are crucial to reducing traffic congestion and preventing accidents in the city. So, let’s all make sure to follow traffic rules and contribute to safer roads in Pune!
