The Maharashtra Education Department is gearing up to kick off the Student Quality Development Initiative starting from 1st August to 31st August. This initiative will focus on reviewing different programs and activities aimed at enhancing student quality in schools. Some of the key areas that will be looked into include reducing the weight of notebooks, incorporating blank pages in textbooks, monitoring student attendance, implementing Happy Saturday activities, and adjusting school timings. Inspections will be carried out at various schools across the state throughout the entire month.

Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare explained that the initiative will involve assessing facilities and programs for students ranging from grades one to twelve. The decision to roll out this campaign was taken during a recent meeting chaired by Maharashtra’s Minister for School Education, Deepak Kesarkar.

The initiative will be divided into three phases: the first 20 days will be dedicated to physical visits to schools, the following six days will focus on making necessary improvements, and the last four days will ensure proper execution of the initiatives. Officials such as the Deputy Director of Education, Education Officer, and other staff members will be visiting schools and providing daily updates on a dedicated website following each visit. The Deputy Director of Education has urged officials to cover as many schools as possible to ensure that the programs are effectively reaching students and that accurate data is being collected.
