Hey folks, big news coming your way today! The Union Cabinet has given the green light to eight major National High-Speed Road Corridor Projects, covering a whopping 936 km and costing a staggering Rs 50,655 crore. The aim? To make logistics more efficient, ease traffic congestion, and improve national connectivity. One of the standout projects is the 8-lane elevated National High-Speed Corridor that will stretch from Nashik Phata to Khed near Pune.

According to official statements, this Nashik Phata to Khed corridor will be built under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, with an estimated cost of Rs 7,827 crore. This investment is set to benefit Pune’s growing industrial sector and make travel between Pune and Nashik smoother, especially for areas like Chakan and Bhosari along NH-60. The corridor will also help decongest the busy Pimpri-Chinchwad area.

The project involves building an 8-lane elevated flyover and upgrading existing roads to 4/6 lanes with service roads on both sides from Nashik Phata to Khed. The project is split into two packages: Package 1 (from km 12.190 to km 28.925) and Package 2 (from km 28.925 to km 42.113) of NH-60 in Maharashtra.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its stamp of approval to these crucial projects. It is estimated that around 4.42 crore man-days of direct and indirect employment will be generated through the implementation of these projects. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, even released a video showcasing the coverage area of the project.

Union Minister of State and MP from Pune, Murlidhar Mohol, shared his excitement about the Nashik Phata-Khed corridor, saying it will not only connect major financial hubs like Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Chakan but also boost logistics efficiency in the region. The corridor will link 10 economic nodes, including food parks, textile clusters, SEZs, pharma and medical clusters, and electronic manufacturing hubs. With nine junctions and two major bridges to facilitate smoother transportation, this development is expected to drive growth in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Chakan, reduce transportation costs, and tackle traffic congestion and pollution head-on.

So buckle up, folks! Exciting times ahead for the transportation sector in Maharashtra. Stay tuned for more updates on these game-changing projects.
