Hey folks, if you’re in Pune or planning a trip to the ghat sections this weekend, you might want to reconsider your plans. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune, Satara, and Raigad districts, with over 200mm of rain expected in isolated pockets. So, better stay safe and dry indoors!

The ghat areas have been receiving heavy rainfall, with places like Tamhini, Bhira, and Lonavla recording significant amounts of rain. The Met officials are advising against driving or trekking in these areas, as it can be dangerous during heavy showers.

Wondering what’s causing all this rain? Well, there’s a cyclonic circulation over West Bengal and Jharkhand that’s likely to intensify into a depression. Plus, the monsoon trough is active near its normal position, influencing the weather in Maharashtra.

In Pune city, we’ve been experiencing intermittent showers, with catchment areas of dams also getting a good drenching. So, expect cloudy skies and moderate rainfall for the next few days. Be prepared for waterlogging in low-lying areas and on some roads.

Stay safe, stay dry, and enjoy the monsoon vibes in Pune!
