The chaos on Ganeshkhind Road continues as the ongoing metro and flyover construction have led to severe traffic problems. Potholes and infrastructure damage have prompted the PMC to take action against the PMRDA, demanding a hefty compensation of Rs. 13.7 lakh.

The construction work on the Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi metro line and the double-decker flyover at Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk has caused significant damage to various infrastructure elements. Heavy cranes used by the PMRDA have resulted in the destruction of footpaths, cable ducts, and carriageways along the road. Public outcry over the deteriorating condition of the road has forced the PMC to take action.

A recent inspection by the PMC’s road department revealed the extent of the damages, with specific areas like ABIL House, NH Dhaba, and Anand Mohite’s property being severely affected. The total estimated loss is Rs. 4,56,965, but the PMC has decided to impose a penalty three times that amount on the PMRDA.

Legal notice has been issued to the company working on behalf of the PMRDA, questioning their negligence towards maintaining the road and causing damage to municipal property. The company has been given a deadline of three days to respond to the notice, or face legal consequences. The situation on Ganeshkhind Road remains tense as the battle between the PMC and the PMRDA continues.
