Gatari Amavasya, the day before the holy month of Shravan begins, is known as a time for indulging in non-vegetarian food and alcohol for many people in Maharashtra. However, some individuals take it too far, as seen in a recent incident in Uruli Kanchan. A youth was attacked with a sharp weapon after attending a Gatari party at a restaurant in the area late at night. The Loni Kalbhor Police Station has registered a case against Deepak Jadhav, Vijay Jadhav, and Sunny Pawar, all residents of Theur, following a complaint from Sohail Isaq Shaikh. The altercation reportedly occurred after a disagreement between Shaikh and the accused during a dinner celebration. Sunny Pawar allegedly struck Shaikh on the head with a sharp weapon, resulting in injury and hospitalization for Shaikh. The police are currently investigating the matter.

In a separate incident on the same night, three young men vandalized the New York Wine Shop in Kalpataru Society, Camp, during Gatari Amavasya celebrations. Using iron rods, the attackers caused significant damage by smashing glassware and creating chaos before fleeing the scene. Anand Zaware reported the incident to the Lashkar Police Station, where Senior Police Inspector Girish Dighavkar confirmed the damage and ongoing investigation. The motive behind the vandalism remains unclear, and the police are actively searching for the suspects.
