The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police in Katraj, Pune, have registered an extortion case against five individuals, including the President, Secretary, and Principal of Munot Primary and Secondary School. The accused, who are part of the Late Ambarchandji Munot Education Society overseeing the school, are facing allegations of wrongful suspension and dismissal of teachers, as well as harassment and extortion over a period of ten years.

The complaint was filed by Dnyanu Sadhu Sarate and ten other teachers, who claimed they were subjected to casteist abuse, forced labor, arbitrary suspensions, and threats of termination by the school management. The teachers have demanded the appointment of an administrator to manage the school due to ongoing harassment and extortion.

According to Sarate, the accused demanded money from teachers for file processing fees and a percentage of their monthly salary until retirement, threatening termination if payments were not made. Additionally, a teacher named Mallikarjun Subhash Wadekar filed a case under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, alleging casteist slurs and abuse by the accused.

The police have registered a case under IPC 384 and 34 against the accused, and investigations are ongoing. Despite attempts to contact the school office for comments, there has been no response.

The case highlights the need for intervention by the education department to address the alleged harassment and extortion at Munot Primary and Secondary School in Katraj.
