Hey Pune peeps, it looks like you’ll have to wait a bit longer for those shiny new buses you’ve been eagerly waiting for! The decision to purchase 100 new buses for the PMPML has hit a roadblock as the Board of Directors meeting failed to finalize the deal.

The plan included getting 20 double-decker buses and 80 12-meter-long buses, all of which would be air-conditioned for your comfort. However, due to increased costs, a revised proposal for wheelchair-friendly buses was also on the table but unfortunately didn’t make it to the discussion stage during the recent meeting.

But hey, it’s not all bad news! PMPML has decided to bring in 100 CNG buses to make your commute a bit more eco-friendly. And let’s not forget about the plans to lease 200 vehicles to further improve public transport in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

With the current fleet of 2,142 buses, of which 1,400 are in daily operation, there’s still a long way to go to meet the demand of 50 buses per one lakh people in the city. Looks like we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed and patiently wait for those new buses to hit the streets!
