The Bavdhan Citizens Forum recently organized a silent protest under the banner “Basics First” to address various issues affecting the neighborhood. More than 300 residents participated in the protest, marching silently from Chandani Chowk to Axis Bank Corner, calling for improved infrastructure in the area.
The protest highlighted concerns such as poor walkability, deteriorating road conditions, encroachments, vandalized “No Parking” signs, and the lack of essential parking signage on the streets of Bavdhan. Residents carried signs advocating for safer pedestrian paths, better-maintained roads, and urban planning that caters to the community’s daily needs.
The movement has gained significant support from 51 residential societies in Bavdhan, representing around 16,000 residents. These societies have formally expressed their concerns through letters, emphasizing the urgent need for improved infrastructure in the area.
A representative from the Bavdhan Citizens Forum emphasized the importance of addressing basic infrastructure issues, stating that walkable streets and well-maintained roads should not be neglected. The protest serves as a message to local authorities about the pressing need for improvements in the neighborhood.
As part of their campaign, the forum, along with residential societies, has drafted a formal petition to be submitted to municipal officials, urging a comprehensive review and prompt action to enhance the roads and pedestrian pathways in Bavdhan. The organizers are hopeful that their peaceful demonstration will lead to tangible improvements in the near future, making Bavdhan a safer and more accessible place for all residents.
