Hey there Punekars, here’s some unfortunate news from the city. Thieves targeted participants of a peace rally in support of the Maratha reservation held in Pune yesterday. Valuables worth an estimated ₹9 lakh were reported stolen in multiple incidents, leading to cases being registered at Swargate and Vishrambaug Police Stations.

The peace rally, led by activist Manoj Jarange-Patil, saw thousands of participants coming together. However, amidst the crowd, thieves managed to steal gold chains, mobile phones, and cash from several attendees. In one incident, a gold chain worth ₹92,000 was snatched from a young man near Phutka Buruj on Bajirao Road, leading to a complaint being filed at Vishrambaug Police Station.

In another incident, two individuals were robbed of a gold chain worth ₹85,000 in the Sarasbaug area, with a complaint being lodged at Swargate Police Station. At Jedhe Chowk in Swargate, a thief managed to steal ₹57,500 in cash from a participant’s pocket, resulting in a report being filed at the same police station.

Furthermore, two separate incidents saw gold chains worth ₹3,30,000 each being stolen from individuals in the city. Police Sub-Inspector Rathore is leading the investigations into these cases to bring the culprits to justice.

It’s disheartening to see such incidents tarnishing what was meant to be a peaceful rally for a cause. Let’s hope that the authorities are able to catch the thieves and recover the stolen items soon. Stay safe, Punekars.
