Hey Pune folks, have you heard about the latest updates regarding the flood-affected housing societies in Ekta Nagar? The Building Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is currently conducting a survey to assess the situation and provide a report within the next 10 days.

The recent floods in Ekta Nagar left many houses and societies submerged, causing damage to the belongings of the residents. The State Government is now looking into changing construction regulations to ensure the permanent rehabilitation of citizens in this area.

It all started on July 25 when 35,000 cusecs of water was released from the Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha river, leading to flooding in areas along Sinhagad Road, Warje, Khilare Vasti, and Pulachi Wadi. The lack of prior intimation about the water discharge added to the woes of the affected citizens.

In response to the situation, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and DyCM Ajit Pawar visited Ekta Nagari to interact with the flood-affected people. It was discovered that the constructions in the area were not illegal as the floodline was not determined when they were built.

In light of these findings, CM Shinde announced plans to rehabilitate the affected citizens under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority by changing the building regulations. The PMC has already started a survey in Ekta Nagari to determine the number of societies and flats within the blue floodline.

Prashant Waghmare, City Engineer of PMC, mentioned that the survey work is expected to be completed within the next 8-10 days. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation in Pune!
